More Scrap Projects and Gamsol

Twice this week, I have shared with you projects made from a single page kit I brought home from our last scrapbooking cruise.  Today I have two more projects to share that were made from the same scraps.  I think I added one piece of blue cardstock, but for the most part, that’s it.

The first one I did was this sympathy card.  This features a butterfly from my stamped image stash.  I wish I knew who made these butterfly stamps.  I have several of them that I bought several years ago when the Scrapbook Barn, a LSS near me, was open.  I would love to see if they still make them.  I know there were several others that I didn’t buy. 

This time, instead of using my Copics, I decided to color it with pencils and do the blending with Gamsol.  If you’ve never played with Gamsol, you should check out this video Colored Pencil Blending with Gamsol by Inky Antics.

My last project I will show you today is an 8x8 scrapbook page.  This is not a size I usually make, but I had a large piece of the blue cardstock left and it wasn’t the right size to make a card, so I decided to do a small-format page instead.  I think this is a great use of scrap paper because I can save up a bunch of these random pages, put them in a small album, and I have an instant gift for someone.  All it needs is a few embellishments and pictures!

Two Floral Cards

Today I’m offering up two cards.  Both of these cards were made from the scraps left over from yesterday’s page layout.  The stamped images were some extras left over from a recent stamped image swap.  They are both from Stampin’ Up’s Happy Watercolor stamp set and I used Copic markers to color them.  I have not added sentiments to these two cards.  I’m trying to decide if I need to add anything to the front.  What do you think? 

Scrap Card

I love saving scraps.  If you saw my stash of scrap paper, and I really mean scraps, you would fall off your chair.  I save just about everything.  I try to use it as often as I can, but there's still a lot of it.  Our 3rd Wednesday Stamp Club instructor, Sharon Armstrong, likes to use up her scraps, too.  She often shares projects with us that are made up mostly of scraps.  She does this to show us how we can use them and not waste so much paper.  I think it's funny, since she's in the business of selling paper, but, hey, that's one of the things that makes her a great instructor for our group.  One Wednesday a few months back, she shared this card project with us.

Isn't this a cute way to use up a few scraps?

Lime Rickey 2

Last Thursday, I showed you a few of the cards I made with my leftover paper from the Basic Grey “Lime Rickey” pack.  I’ve made countless cards out of this pack because the colors are so vibrant and they just scream birthday!  I found a few more, and thought I would share them with you.

This first card was for a male friend of ours.  I didn’t want it to be too girly, so I went with some darker colors.  I used my label punch from Stampin’ Up! to make a border around my sentiment.  If you look at it very closely, you will see that it is just two of the large labels turned in opposite directions.

The second card was for my mother, and definitely has more of a girly feel to it, even though it is not over-the-top .  This time I used my cupcake punch with a scrap of the tie-dyed looking paper.  The multi-colored cupcakes are a great way to tie odd colors together on a card.

Okay, this last card technically isn’t “Lime Rickey”, but it did come from the same leftover cardstock, and I just love this bold color combo.

Lime Rickey

I was feeling really guilty all day about the missing blog posts and getting my 365 prompts out there so I thought I’d give you a little treat today.  Instead of one card, I decided I would post 3!

All three of these cards are made from the Basic Grey “Lime Rickey” collection that came out a few years ago.  I bought this paper line to do a World Scout Jamboree album for my son, Steven, and wound up with so much of it left over that I’ve been making cards with it for years!  Now I know a lot of people would just toss it all in the garbage bin or give it away to someone else, but I just cannot stand to see good paper go to waste, and I really did have a lot of it left.  Plus, with all the vibrant colors, it was just perfect for making cards.  You can see how versatile this line really is…these cards are all very different from each other.

HoneyPOP Cards

Whilie I was cropping at Personal Scrapbook on Friday, I ran across this stamp set designed for use with the HoneyPOP paper.  Instead of making a 3-D shape, when you use these, they make a fun, dimensional border that's suitable for scrapbooking or card-making.

I love the HoneyPOP products, and since I just got through making those cute birthday cards with it, I thought it would be fun to play with it some more.  I made these cards with the leftovers from the Pam’s Pals pages I just finished up. 

This last card is the one I made using the Beautiful Borders stamp set I bought at the crop.  I must say, it was very easy to use.  The instructions are very clear and the shapes and borders are very fun.  Unfortunately, there’s no picture of the end result, so choosing one of the patterns is kind of hit or miss.  I checked online for a chart or photo showing what each of the stamps makes, but had no luck. 

I don’t know why, but I just get all giggly when I make something with the HoneyPOP products.  I guess it just reminds me so much of my childhood.  I remember Christmas and Halloween decorations and who knows what else made out of this paper.  It’s just so stinking cute!  I’m thinking seriously about creating some of my own designs for it - any excuse to use it some more, right?  After all, what's better than getting all giggly?
