Welcome to our monthly Team L. I. Blog Hop! This month, I get the honor of kicking off
the hop, and I can’t wait to share all these great projects with you! A complete list of all participants can be
found at the bottom of this post, as well as information on how you
can win this authentic Vintage Mickey tote bag and some fun goodies from
Bazzill Basics Paper and Quick Quotes, so be sure to read all the way through
and follow the instructions closely!
In planning for this blog hop, the girls and I were discussing
what June means to us. For many, our
minds went straight to the traditional “June Brides” or “Fun in the Sun” themes
of summer, but we were quickly reminded that the internet is a global
community, and while those of us in the U.S. and Europe will be enjoying a
lovely summer, our friends and colleagues south of the equator will be facing
the start of winter. It was quickly
apparent that many of the themes we thought of just wouldn’t work, so instead,
we opted for “What June Means to Me,” which leaves us with a much broader area
of interpretation, and really got me thinking about a few things.
Naturally, when I think of June, I think of a lot of things,
including school letting out, the beginning of hot summer days, Father’s Day, a
couple of family birthdays, and even a scrapbook convention I used to
attend. These are all fine themes, but June
has always meant “Brides” to me. I was a
June Bride not once, but twice (that’s
a story for another day), and as of this year, my dear hubby and I will be
celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary!
I am not ashamed to say that my husband is pretty much the
best friend I ever had. I’ve lived with
him longer than any other human being on this planet, and he knows the real me better than anyone else ever could. He’s seen me at my absolute worst, and has
stuck by me. We’ve been together for
half our lives! He’s the father of my
children, the most talented and creative person I know, and way smarter and
more handsome than he gives himself credit for.
I can’t imagine a life without him and I hope I never have to.
So when I sat down to make a card to give him on our big
day, I knew it had to be pretty special, because there is no way words could
ever convey how blessed I am to be with this awesome guy. I worked on it for
several days, testing out techniques and doing a few different things only to
throw it away and try something different. In the end, this card turned out exactly the way I wanted it and I hope
you’ll like it as much as I do. I think
it would easily be suitable for a newly wedded couple as for old hats like us.
This card was really the beginning of my obsession with
monochromatic cards this week (see my earlier posts). I just love the look of the Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla cardstock layered up with
the Lacy Brocade embossing
folder. The stamps are from the Bliss set (Sale-a-Bration a year or two
ago), as well as Framed with Love and
Collage Curios (both retired). If you
are familiar with Stampin’ Up, you will also recognize the pennant punch, Hearts a Flutter Framelits die, and Soft Suede ink. I also sprayed the embossed piece with
Tattered Angels Pearl spray, but it
just does not show up very well in the photos.
So, as promised, here’s the skinny on the prize. This month for the hop, each blog is hosting
their own prize, so that means you have more chances to win! I will be giving away the Vintage Mickey tote
bag pictured at the beginning of this post along with an assortment of fun
goodies from Bazzill Basics Paper and Quick Quotes. All you have to do is comment on my blog
about the project for this month, and tell us what theme you think we should
pick for next month (July). That’s
it! Then go visit all the other blogs in
the hop and do the same thing for a chance to win some of those fabulous
prizes, too! We’ll pick a random winner
for each blog on July 1, so you have until June 30 to enter. Oh and while you’re at it, hop on over to my Facebook page and show us
some love!
That’s it for me. I’m
the first blog in the hop, so your next stop will be Laura’s Treasure
Chest of Memories at http://treasurechestofmemories.com/scrapbook-tutorial-what-june-means-to-me/. She has put together a fabulous project that
I just know you’ll love! Thanks for
stopping by, and Good Luck!
